OTTAWA LAKE – Whiteford moved closer to clinching at least a share of the TCC baseball title Wednesday with a doubleheader sweep of Whitmore Lake, 5-0 and 10-1.
Andrew Toda slammed the door on the Trojans in the opener, going the distance and striking out nine while walking just one batter and allowing only three Whitmore Lake hits.
Antonio DiTerlizzi and Thomas Eitniear had doubles while Corbin Willis and DiTerlizzi each had RBIs.
Nolan Adams pitched a gem in the nightcap for the Bobcats, going seven innings, striking out nine allowing two hits and one run. Eitniear, DiTerlizzi and Toda each had two hits with Adams and DiTerlizzi slugging doubles. Hunter Lake had two RBI’s.
The Bobcats improved to 16-3 overall and 10-0 in the TCC.
Whiteford has a doubleheader with Morenci scheduled for May 22 along with single league makeup games against Madison and Sand Creek. Those games have not been scheduled. Summerfield remains in the league hunt at 9-2 after sweeping Sand Creek Wednesday.
