PETERSBURG – Whiteford’s 2019 volleyball season came to an end Wednesday when the Bobcats lost to Monroe St. Mary Catholic Central in the Division 3 District semifinals.

SMCC won 25-6, 25-12, 25-10 to advance to Thursday’s District finals against Blissfield.

The Bobcats finish the season 8-18-4.

Whiteford coach Buffy Ruddy told The Monroe News that she’s proud of the Bobcats:

“Our play tonight didn’t showcase what we’re able to do, it but we are playing our best volleyball now and we peaked at the right time, and that’s all a coach can ask for,’ Ruddy said. “Our girls worked hard, and I just asked them to fight for every point in that match.

“It’s always tough to face a powerhouse like (SMCC), year in and year out. I hope they go all the way.”
