Whiteford sweeps Tecumseh in softball doubleheader

OTTAWA LAKE — It was Island Night for the Bobcat softball team Friday and Whiteford came away with a couple of wins over the Division 2 Tecumseh Indians.

Whiteford won the non-league games by scores of 7-1 and 11-0.

Berlynn Keller picked up the win in the first game, tossing a two-hitter and not allowing an earned run. Aly VanBrandt went 4-for-4 and scored three times. Keller, Unity Nelson and Ambrelle Billau had two hits each.

In the nightcap, Nelson pitched a no-hitter, striking out 10. Karlei Conard had two hits and three RBI for the game as Whiteford improved to 14-3 on the season.

Nelson has 28 strikeouts over her last two outings.
