Bobcats fare well at Nick Haynes Cross Country Invite

OTTAWA LAKE — Whiteford’s runners enjoyed a solid home cross country opener Tuesday as three Bobcats finished in the top six of the Junior-Senior boys and girls races.

Keegan Masters finished first in the Junior/Senior boys race despite falling with about 250 meters to go in the race. He got up and still finished ahead of Erie Mason’s Jackson Ansel with a time of 16:51.

Elliot Rodgers finished fourth (18:23), Zach Kahn sixth (19:33), Luke Rasor 16th (22:05), Dylan Anderson 18th (22:16) and T.J. French 24th (27:100).

In the Freshman/Sophomore race, Brendan Masters placed seventh (20:54).

In the girls race, Annie Gapp finished fifth with a time of 24:44. Madelyn Thomas was seventh (25:54) and Hill Webb eighth (25:56). Aubrie Simmons came in 15th (27;47), Margo Thomas 20th (30:31), Ali Bauman 22nd (32:27) and Erica Holup 23rd (32:54).

Emily Rasor was 7th in the Freshman/Sophomore race with a time of 24:47 and Megan Butz placed 16th in 27:25.

“I think we’re doing a good job of racing and learning what that looks and feels like,” Whiteford coach Jay Yockey said. “Today was tough with the wind, and at a park with very little shade. Everyone gave great effort, especially since it is difficult to coach when you’re hosting a meet.”

The Bobcats are next up Sept. 6 at the Frank Connolly Relays hosted by Erie Mason.
