Whiteford is No. 1.

The Bobcats are off to a 2-0 start and have climbed to the top of the consensus Division 8 poll this week.

There are six statewide rankings of football teams, by division:

• Detroit Free Press
• Michigan High School Football Coaches Association
• Calpreps.com
• MHSAA Playoff Points

Whiteford was ranked No. 1 by Friday Night Victors and the Free Press, No. 2 by Michigan Football Frenzy and Calpreps.com and No. 3 by the coaches association. They also come in at No. 7 in this week’s playoff points listing. Combined, those rankings have the Bobcats No. 1, Ubly No. 2 and Beal City No. 3. Reading comes in at No. 4 and Fowler, who beat Summerfield last week 35-14, is No. 5.
