The Whiteford boys team placed fourth with 87 points, seven points out of the final qualifying spot, in the Division 3 Regional Saturday.
“The boys ran probably the best race of the season. I’m thrilled with their efforts,” Whiteford coach Jay Yockey said.
Keegan Masters was the individual regional champion with a time of 16:20. He is believed to be the first individual regional cross country champion in school history (pending research).
“Overall he has bettered the previous school record by almost a minute,” Yockey said. “It’ll be exciting to see what he can do in the final meet.”
Elliott Rodgers was 6th, Zach Kahn 9th. Dylan Anderson and Brendan Masters were 35th and 36th. Luke Rasor 48th, TJ French 55th. Rodgers and Kahn will also compete in state meet.
The girls team placed 9th with 218 points.
Annie Gapp 33rd, Emily Rasor 34, Jill Webb 48, Aubrie Simmons 53, Madelyn Thomas 58, Megan Butz 63, and Margo Thomas 64.
“It’s been a great season across the board,” Yockey said. “I’m proud of our efforts and to always compete with integrity, grit, and determination.”

The article failed to mention that Elliott and Zach also qualified for state.
