SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – Whiteford took on two of the top Division 1 teams in Ohio Saturday and came home with a split.
The Bobcats beat Lancaster 6-3 and lost to host Springfield 6-1.
Against Lancaster, Karlei Conard got the start and the win while Unity Nelson came in to earn the save. Conard and Alison Spradling each had a pair of RBIs.
In the second game, Kaydence Sheldon managed two hits for the Bobcats. Springfield’s pitcher is a University of Toledo recruit, Madison Yackee. Springfield is ranked nationally.
“She pounded the strike zone with superb spin pitches,” Whiteford coach Matt VanBrandt said. “It was awesome for our hitters to see a lefty with that much control. She really challenged our hitters.”
