Whiteford’s Shea Ruddy has been invited to participate in the 2023 Michigan High School Coaches Association All-Star football game this summer.

Ruddy, the two-time all-state quarterback, led the Bobcats to the Division 8 state championship last fall, setting a host of records and earning statewide player of the year honors.

He becomes the second Bobcat in the last two years to be named to the game. Noah Bauman played in the 2022 All-Star game, which was played at Lawrence Tech University in Detroit.

Previous Bobcats to play in the state all-star game were Fred Kutzke and John Iott. Lucas Tesznar was chosen for the game but declined the invitation to play in it.

Ruddy is a four-sport athlete at Whiteford and is on track to finish his Bobcat sports career with 13 varsity letters.

He was Whiteford’s first four-year starter at quarterback. He played in a school-record 45 games and holds just about every passing record. He threw a school-record five touchdown passes in Week 7, set another mark with 19 touchdown passes in a season has the career passing yards record with 4,461.

The Bobcats won 35 of his 45 career starts, including five wins when he was a 15-year-old freshman.

Whiteford head coach Todd Thieken and assistant coach Ben Avis are both coaching in the game.
