Whiteford’s track and field teams keep bringing home hardware.
The Bobcats competed at the Webberville Spartan Invite Friday – in an all day rain – and won both the men’s and women’s events.
“The girls are a scrappy team and load up on points with the top half finished in their events,” Whiteford coach Jay Yockey said. “The boys had solid performance and continue to impress.”
Shea Ruddy and Kenzie Gray were voted top male and female field performers in the large school division, and Mackenzie Ulery was top female track performer.
Whiteford took first in the 4×100 with Kolby and Stepan Masserant and Shea and Ryin Ruddy; the 4×200 (Dylan Anderson, Cooper Bieber, Jake Iott, Ryin Ruddy), and 4×400 (Ryin and Shea Ruddy, Jake Iott and Dylan Anderson.
Shea Ruddy also took first in the 100 and high jump. Dylan Anderson was first in the 400, Elliott Rodgers first in the 3200 and Stepan Masserant first in pole vault.
Rodgers, Keegan Masters and Annie Gapp and Aubrie Simmons were second in the co-Ed 4×800.
Alaina McClain won the 800, Mackenzie Ulery was 2nd in the 100 and 200, as was Annie Gapp in the 300 hurdles.
“This was a good meet to see different competition and to push us with unfamiliar teams,” Yockey said. “ We can get lazy when it comes to seeing the same competition and teams over and over, so to tune up for the championship portion we wanted to attend a meet that would allow us to see how we fared with different teams and venues.”
