First-place Bobcats win twice at Morenci

MORENCI – Whiteford swept Morenci 14-1, 13-3 Wednesday.

Nate Stevens no-hit Morenci in Game 1, striking out seven in five innings. Luke Rasor did the damage at the plate, with three hits and two RBIs. Logan Tammerine and Ryin Ruddy also had two hits.

In the second game, Ryin Ruddy had three hits, including two doubles and a triple, with Shea Ruddy, Logan Tammerine, Jake Giesige and Caden Schroyer having two hits each. Rasor had one hit, three RBIs and scored four times.

Schroyer picked up the pitching win in the second game for Whiteford.

The Bobcats are 12-6 overall and 7-1 in the TCC with league doubleheaders left against Summerfield and Erie Mason. If the Bobcats win out, they can do no worse than share the TCC title.

Madison is in first place in the TCC with a 9-1 record. They have a doubleheader remaining against Morenci.
