Conard also had a big day at the plate, driving in three runs. Unity Nelson also had three RBIs. Nelson, Shay Alexander and Aly VanBrandt had multiple hits for the 27-3 Bobcats.
The Bobcats scored four times in the first inning and five in the seventh. Grass Lake got its runs with a homerun in first inning and two more runs in the fifth.
“Karlei pitched a great game, mixing speed and location,” Whiteford coach Matt VanBrandt said. “Neither team played mistake free, but we were able to recover from a couple fielding and baserunning mistakes. It was a great opportunity to travel and see excellent competition.”
