Whiteford heads to post-season with 30-4 record after split with Monroe

OTTAWA LAKE – Whiteford finished the regular season 30-4 with a doubleheader split with Monroe on Saturday.

The Bobcats beat the Trojans 3-0 and lost game two 9-8.

In the opener, Unity Nelson gave up three singles and struck out 13 while Aly VanBrandt went 3-for-4 at the plate.

Monroe (20-15) scored seven runs in the first two innings in Game 2. Whiteford’s comeback fell short. Nelson came into the circle in relief and struck out 11 in five innings.

VanBrandt, Shay Alexander and Koralynn Billau had three hits each for the Bobcats.

Whiteford plays Blissfield Tuesday in the Division 3 Pre-District game.
