VanBrandt, Nelson and Sheldon make First Team All-State in softball

Aly VanBrandt, Unity Nelson and Kaydence Sheldon have been named First Team All-State by the Michigan High School Softball Coaches Association.

Patrina Marsh was named the Honorable Mention list.

VanBrandt made the team at shortstop. She hit .602 on the season with 65 hits in 108 at-bats. She had six doubles and 10 triples, while driving in 27 runs, scoring 63 runs and stealing 39 bases.

Sheldon, the Bobcat catcher, hit .396 for the season with nine doubles and three homeruns. She led the team with 43 RBIs. Sheldon committed just one error this season.

Nelson was one of the pitchers on the All-State squad. She went 23-1 with her only loss coming to Standish-Sterling in the state finals. She had two saves and set the school record for strikeouts in a season with 317 in 151.2 innings pitched.

Marsh, honorable mention outfielder, tied for second on the team in RBIs with 35 and led the team with four homeruns. She also had a team-high 12 doubles. She hit .398.
