OTTAWA LAKE – Defending state champion Whiteford is the No. 1 ranked team in the first Division 8 Associated Press high school football poll released today.
The 3-0 Bobcats have beaten Blissfield, Ida and Ottawa Hills to start the season and take on Edon, Ohio, at home Friday in Week 4. The Bobcats are also No. 1 in rankings by the Detroit Free Press, Friday Night Victors and Calpreps.com, a national ranking site. The Michigan High School Football Coaches Association had Whiteford No. 1 last week. It’s Week 3 rankings have not been published yet.
The Bobcats received all six first-place votes to rank first in front of Ithaca, Fowler, Ubly and Beal City.
Hudson comes in at No. 6, Addison at No. 7, Iron Mountain No. 8 and White Pigeon at No. 9. Frankfort is No. 10. Summerfield received one vote and is No. 17.
