EAST LANSING – Whiteford’s cross country teams had a solid day in East Lansing Friday, competing in the Michigan State University Invite.
Keegan Masters ran in the elite boys race, going up against some of the top Division 1 and Division 2 runners in the state. He placed 23rd overall with a time of 16:27.7.
“Both our boys and girls’ teams have so many young and first-time runners,” Whiteford coach Jay Yockey said. “It’s exciting to see them grow with each race.”
Freshman Braelynn Chiotti was the top Bobcat female finisher with a run of 22:35.2, good for a top 50 finish.
“The girls ran solid and had a great day,” Yockey said. “We’re learning to race at big meets and what that looks and feels like and they’re handling the challenge well. The boys also had a solid day and are starting to realize their potential.
“Both teams have so many young or first-time runners so it’s exciting to see them grow with each race.”
Annabelle Gapp (25:00.3) was 119th and Emily Rasor (25:01.7) was 121st. Zach Kahn (18:50.7) was 61st for the Bobcats in his race.
The Bobcats will compete Blissfield’s Early Bird Invite Tuesday.
