Shea Ruddy scores first college touchdown

It didn’t take Shea Ruddy long to make an impact on the Hillsdale College football team.

The Whiteford graduate, playing in just his fourth college game, caught five passes for 114 yards and a touchdown for the Chargers against the University of Findlay.

Ruddy was a quarterback for four years at Whiteford, setting numerous school passing records and appearing more games than any player in Bobcat history.

At Hillsdale, Ruddy switched to receiver and despite being a true freshman has been playing for the Chargers, who are 0-4. He caught one pass for seven yards in the first game of his career, vs. Indianapolis, before having the breakout game against Findlay.

On the touchdown catch, Ruddy caught the ball in the open field, made a move to shake off the Oiler defender, then outraced the rest of the Findlay defense to the end zone.

Hillsdale hosts Northwood University at 1 p.m. Saturday.
