Bobcat defense shuts out Reading as offense rolls

OTTAWA LAKE – Whiteford’s defense recorded its first shutout of the season while the offense piled up 445 yards of total offense as the Bobcats dominated the visiting Rangers.

Whiteford led 20-0 by the end of the first quarter on touchdowns by Drew Knaggs, Hunter DeBarr and Stepan Masserant. Knaggs scored early in the second quarter to make it 26-0 then Ryin Ruddy intercepted a pass and returned it 28 yards for a touchdown to make it 35-0 before halftime.

DeBarr, Ruddy, Knaggs and Cooper Bieber added second half touchdowns for the 7-0 Bobcats. Whiteford had 25 first downs, compared to six by Reading. Whiteford’s defense held the Rangers to 83 yards of offense.
