Whiteford to host White Pigeon at 7 p.m. Friday in Regional championship tilt

OTTAWA LAKE – Whiteford will play White Pigeon Friday at 7 p.m. in the Division 8 Regional final.

It will be a battle of 11-0 teams.

Whiteford earned its trip to the Regional final with a 24-14 win over Hudson Friday, shutting out the Tigers in the second half and pulling away for their 25th victory in a row. The defending state champions are 6-0 at home this season.

White Pigeon beat Saugatuck 30-0 to win its District title Friday. Like Whiteford, White Pigeon has won three straight District titles.

The game is a rematch of last season’s Regional final which Whiteford won 34-26.

Five of the eight remaining Division 8 teams will take 11-0 records into the Regional round. Here are the four Regional final matchups:

Iron Mountain (11-0) at Beal City (10-1)

Ithaca (11-0) at Ubly (11-0)

White Pigeon (11-0) at Whiteford (11-0)

Riverview Gabriel Richard (7-4) at Clarkston Everest Collegiate (9-2)
