Masters battles stomach issue to place inside top 50 at state meet

BROOKLYN — Whiteford’s Keegan Masters finished with a time of 16:46, which was good for 43rd place at the Division 3 state championships Saturday at Michigan International Speedway.

“It wasn’t what we were hoping or training for, but that’s the way the sport goes,” Bobcat coach Jay Yockey said. “He had a stomach issue throughout the race, but he laid it all out there and gave what he could. He’s had a wonderful career at Whiteford and set the standard for future runners and success.”

Masters is the school-record holder in cross country and won a TCC championship this season, the first Bobcat male to do so.
