Whiteford’s Yockey wins Regional Coach of the Year honor for track

LANSING — Whiteford track and field coach Jay Yockey was named Regional Boys Coach of the Year by the Michigan Interscholastic Track Coaches Association Friday in Lansing.

Yockey was also nominated for Division 3 state coach of the year.

“The nomination is an accomplishment in and of itself,” Yockey said. “I wouldn’t be able to l do any of this without my family, my coaching staff, athletic director, and amazing athletes. It’s great to be a Bobcat. I’m grateful for the gifts and passions God has given me.”

Yockey also coaches cross country at Whiteford.
