TOLEDO – Whiteford assistant football coach Ben Avis has been named the 2024 Toledo Chapter National Football Foundation Assistant Coach of The Year.

The Tom Santoro Assistant Coach of the Year Award is presented each year to a long-term assistant coach who has impacted the leadership of the high school team, developed success in the program, is a role model to all students, and has supported the head coach and along with successfully mentored players.

Coach Avis will be honored at the Spring Awards Banquet on March 12, along with some of our own Whiteford Scholar Athletes.

The Toledo/Wistert chapter of the National Football Foundation was organized in 1962 and provides scholarships and awards to over 100 football teams in Northwest Ohio, and Southeast Michigan.
