
OTTAWA LAKE – Whiteford inducted 13 students into its Hall of Fame Friday, honoring athletes from softball, baseball, track, cross country and football.
Athletes earning all-state accolades, scoring points at the state track and field meet, and finishing among the top 20 at the state cross and country meet joined the Hall of Fame and will have plaques on display on the wall outside of the new gymnasium.
Eight were honored for one sport – including softball all-staters Unity Nelson and Kaydence Sheldon; Baseball All-Stater Logan Tammerine and football all-state selections Hunter DeBarr, Drew Knaggs and Jack Iott. Stepan Masserant and Cooper Bieber were on a relay team that scored at the state track meet in 2023.
Several athletes were inducted for multiple sports.
Keegan Masters was a top 20-finisher at the state cross country meet in 2022 and placed sixth in the 1600 at the 2023 state track meet.
Aubrie Simmons was on a third-place relay squad in 2021 and Annabelle Gapp was third on a relay and fifth in the 300 Hurdles.
Kolby Masserant was part of the 400 Relay team that placed fifth at the 2023 state track meet and was First team All-State in football this past season.
Jake Iott joined the Hall of Fame for track and football. He was first team all-state in football in 2022 and 2023. In track, he was on an eighth-place relay in 2022, was eighth in the 400 in 2023 and was part of the state championship 1600 relay team in 2023.
Ryin Ruddy is also a two-sport All-State athlete. He was part of the fifth place 400 relay team, the eighth place 4×200 relay and the state championship 1600 relay team in 2023. In addition, he was eighth in the 300 hurdles and was named All-State Football in 2022 and 2023.
