It was a record-setting opener for the Whiteford boys track and field team as the Bobcats beat Blissfield 114-22 and got to update its record board.
Kolby Masserant went 21-8 in the long jump to break a record held since 2007 and was a double winner for the Bobcats. Keegan Masters also won twice for the Bobcat boys.
“We ran well overall,” Bobcat coach Jay Yockey said. “We have fine tuning to do, but that’s to be expected with the first meet.”
Blissfield was led by the 3200 Relay team of Jackson Vandenbusche, Evan Vore, William Marks, and Ian Waddell, who won with a time of 8:52.
Kenzie Gray took the shot put and discus for the Bobcat girls team in a 74-57 victory.
June Miller took the 400 and 800 and Hailey Sills was first in the 1600 and 3200 for Blissfield. Reanne Smith won the 200 and the Royals went 1-2 in the 100 with Layla Smith and Reanne Smith.
