Bobcats take two in season opener at EMU

Whiteford’s baseball team lifted the lid on the 2024 season with a pair of victories over Ann Arbor Father Gabriel Richard at Eastern Michigan University.

“To start against a Division 2 team that has a pretty good history, on their home turf is great,” Bobcat coach Terry Pant said. “We hit the ball well and got good pitching. If we can do those things, we’ll be alright this season.”

The Bobcats won 4-0 and 19-4.

Logan Tammerine, who won 10 games last year on the hill, Logan Keane and freshman Tre Eitniear combined on the shutout in the opener, combing for seven strikeouts and allowing just two hits.

Tammerine started and didn’t give up a hit, but walked three. Eitniear faced four batters, striking out two and walking one in one inning of work.

At the plate, Eitnear had two hits and batted in two runs.

In the second game, Keane and Nate Stevens had three hits each, including two doubles and four RBIs apiece. Brendon Masters, Stevens and Noah Stevens combined for nine strikeouts.
