VanBrandt named Second Team All-Big Ten at Indiana

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Whiteford graduate Aly VanBrandt is making a splash in her first season at Indiana University.

VanBrandt, a freshman, was named Second Team All-Big Ten Wednesday and First Team All-Freshman.

VanBrandt has put together a highly impressive freshman campaign to earn Second Team and All-Freshman team recognition. Her .364 batting average ranked second on the team heading into the Big Ten Tournament. She also has charted 51 hits, 31 runs, 12 stolen bases with a .414 on-base percentage.

Indiana is 38-17 after beating Purdue in Round 1 of the Big Ten Tournament Wednesday. VanBrandt went 2-for-3, including a two-run triple. The Hoosiers take on Northwestern, the No. 1 seed, in the Big Ten Tournament at noon today.
