Whiteford wins Conner Hoogendoorn Memorial Tournament

OTTAWA LAKE – Whiteford honored former athlete Conner Hoogendoorn and brought home the first baseball tournament named in his honor.

The Bobcats beat Clinton 2-1 and Plymouth Christian Academy 8-2 to take first place.

In the opener, Logan Tammerine was the winning pitcher, not allowing a hit and striking out 12 for the Bobcats. He also had the game-winning hit in the bottom of the seventh inning, scoring Tre Eitniear, who had reached when he was hit by a pitch.

Eitniear and Tammerine had the only two Whiteford hits.

In the Plymouth Christian game, Whiteford led 7-0 before PCA put two runs across the board in the sixth inning.

Jake Scott and Luke Henegar had two hits apiece for the Bobcats. Nate Stevens went six innings, striking out eight. Logan Keane pitched the final inning.

Whiteford is 18-5.
