
ERIE – Talk about going down to the wire!
Whiteford and Erie Mason came down to the final event Tuesday before the Bobcats pulled out a 179-178 victory to win the TCC track and field meet and tie for the league title.
“A great track meet always comes down to the 4×400 and that’s exactly what we got tonight,” Whiteford coach Jay Yockey said.
Erie Mason beat Whiteford in the regular season dual. Whiteford’s victory in the league meet creates a tie for the league crown.
The Bobcats had numerous outstanding performances. Keegan Masters won the 800, 1600 and 3200. Ryin Ruddy was a double winner.
Stepan Masserant won the pole vault, Liam Waterford won the long jump, and Jess Saylor won the 400.
The Bobcat girls were second and finished third in the league standings.
Whiteford got firsts in the girls 4×800, Rylie DeSilvis in the long jump, Alaina McClain in the 800, and Kenzi Gray was a double winner in the shot and discus.
