Whiteford tuned up for the Tri-County Conference championships Saturday with some personal bests and overall strong showing at the Ann Arbor Father Gabriel Richard Invitational.

The Whiteford women placed fifth with two medalists while the men’s team finished 10th overall.

Alaina McClain and Braelynn Chiotti both finished in the top 30. Brian Wing, Emily Rasor and Rory Bida were others to score points for the Bobcats.

“Alaina had a great day and ran a PR and is now in the top five fastest times in Whiteford history,” Bobcat coach Jay Yockey said. “We saw a few other personal records or season records as well and hopefully we get the confidence boost we need for the remaining portion of the season.”

The Bobcats compete in the TCC championship event Tuesday. Whiteford’s women enter the race tied with Erie Mason as the Bobcats hope to win their first league title since 2010.

“We saw some great competition,” Yockey said. “We go to this meet to get out of the comfort of seeing the same teams every week. This was a great tune up for Tuesdays TCC championship meet.”

The Whiteford boys were paced by Connor Mills, Cooper Diesing, Keegan Thomas, Brendon Masters and Ryan Thomas.
