Bobcat girls second in TCC after close finish

Whiteford’s girls cross country team came up one point shy of tying Erie Mason for the TCC league championship.

The girls placed second by one point to Erie Mason. The Eagles had 43 points Tuesday and Whiteford 43.

“The girls ran really hard,” Whiteford coach Jay Yockey said. “They wanted to win so bad and all nine ran great races. For a meet to come down to one point shows that everyone’s placement matters. Erie came out today and competed great. That’s the way racing goes.”

Alaina McClain earned first team TCC honors, placing fifth overall with a time of 21:53.73. Braelynn Chiotti, Breslin Wing and Briar Wing earned second team TCC honors, while Rory Vida and Emily Rasor were named honorable mention. 

Whiteford boys placed third as a team. Conner Mills and Cooper Diesing were named to the TCC Honorable Mention team.
