NEWPORT – Whiteford tuned up for the volleyball post-season Saturday by winning the Jefferson Invitational.

The Bobcats beat the host school, Monroe Jefferson in the finals of the Gold Bracket, 25-20, 25-20.

In pool play, Whiteford beat Riverview Gabriel Richard 25-8, 25-12; Clarenceville 25-7, 25-13 and split with Jefferson, 25-17, 22-25.

In the semifinals the Bobcats beat Garden City 25-18, 25-18, to reach the finals.

Bailey Spradling had 34 kills hitting .256 and 25 digs and 7 aces; Maylie Mullins had 23 kills .234 and 6 aces; Liv Ruehle had 40 digs and Addeson Cousino had 84 assists and 6 aces.

“It was a solid day to take us into the post season Monday,” Bobcat coach Janie Valdez said.
