Whiteford holds off Jets to win in Airport Showcase

CARLETON – Whiteford closed out the Airport Basketball Showcase Saturday by holding on for a six-point win in the first-ever meeting between the Bobcats and Jets.

Whiteford led 44-42 going into the fourth quarter, went up by as many as 11 with just under five minutes remaining and pulled away at the end after the Jets made it a two-point game.

Nate Andrews led the Bobcats with a career-high 22 points, 16 of which came in the second half.

Rylan Joerin scored 16 points and Cole Griffith added 12 for 4-2 Whiteford.

Stahr led Airport with 22 points, matching Andrews for game scoring honors. Tackett added 12 for the 2-7 Jets, who were playing in their second game in as many nights.

The Bobcats were making their first appearance in the Airport Showcase, which is in its 11th year.
