Whiteford advances to district championship game

OTTAWA LAKE – Rylan Joerin was as locked in as can be Wednesday night.

The Bobcat senior made six 3-pointers in the first 26 minutes of the game and helped Whiteford jump out to a 21-point halftime and a 28-point lead at one point in the third quarter.

“He’s worked very hard to get where he is,” Bobcat coach Nick Abalos said. “Last year there were 10 guys ahead of him on this team. He’s worked really hard in the gym and it shows.”

Joerin opened the game with a t3-pointers and helped the Bobcats lead 15-7 through the first eight minutes. In the second quarter, Blissfield scored the first five points to make it 15-12 with 7:12 left.

Joerin then hit three straight triples and Logan Delmotte drilled one, Caden Schroyer scored on an inside bucket, Delmotte scored again the Joerin hit another 3-pointer for a 19-0 Whiteford run.

“I think being at home, first time playing districts at home, the kids were excited,” Abalos said.

Joerin finished with 24 points and Cole Griffith 10 for 16-7 Whiteford.
