OTTAWA LAKE – Whiteford lost 21-3 to Sylvania Southview Tuesday in the first game back from Spring break for the Bobcats.
“We had a brutal second inning,” said Bobcat coach Matt VanBrandt. “They were barrelling everything. Northview is a very good hitting team.”
Northview tagged the Bobcats with 16 runs in the second inning. That followed a three-run first inning by the Wildcats, courtesy of a three-run home run.
Peyton Welch surrendered 12 hits and eight earned runs over three innings. She struck out four.
Addeson Cousino, Lily Billau, Brooklyn Mills, Bailey Spradling, Ava Stevens, and Megan Butz each collected one hit for Whiteford Varsity Bobcats. Mills and Stevens each drove in one run for Whiteford. Butz stole two bases.
Sylvania Northview Lady Kats piled up 18 hits in the game.
The game-time temperature was 40 degrees.
Whiteford is 0-2.
