OTTAWA LAKE – Peyton Welch and Ava Stevens picked up pitching victories as Whiteford swept Summerfield 8-1, 19-6 Wednesday.

The Bobcats had 10 hits in the opener with Bailey Spradling going 4-for-4 with four RBI. Welch struck out 12 Bulldogs and allowed three hits.

Avy Wood had two triples among her three hits and drove in five in the second game. Welch also had two triples and Lily Billau had three hits.

Ava Butz scored seven runs in the two games combined.

“Our preconference schedule prepped us for today,” said Whiteford coach Matt VanBrandt. “It was a great start to league play.”
