Bobcats sweep Aggies, Cougars in TCC track

SAND CREEK – Whiteford picked up a pair of Tri-County Conference victories Tuesday.

The Bobcat boys beat Sand Creek 97-39 and Lenawee Christian 100-31 while the girls beat the Aggies 85-52 and the Cougars 100-31.

“It was a great night of racing for not only us, but sand creek and LCS saw some great marks too,” Whiteford coach Jay Yockey said.

The girls won all the relay events. They also saw wins in the 3200 from Breslin Wing, Nina Bauman in the discus and 300 hurdles, Haley Luse in the shot put, and Madilynn Thorn in the long jump.

“Nina showed up big for the team tonight,” Yockey said. “She’s becoming quite the force in track and field.”

The boys also won all four relays and had wins from Nate Andrews in the 200, Jess Saylor in the 400, Brek Ruddy in the 800 and pole vault, Cooper Diesing in the 3200, Ryan Thomas in the high and low hurdles, and Chase Lee led a 1-4 sweep in the shot put.

“The guys had a great day,” Yockey said. “They are focused and have big things they want to accomplish this year. Brek Ruddy had a fantastic day with a huge PR in the pole vault and coming up big in the 800 and being on the winning 4×400.”

Whiteford competes at the Webberville Invitational Friday.
