MORENCI – Whiteford bounced back from two straight losses to sweep Morenci in a Tri-County Conference doubleheader, 11-0, 11-0.
Peyton Welch gave up just two hits and struck out 20 in 12 innings.
Freshman Rory Vida made her first varsity start and went 4-for-6 at the plate. Freshman Molly Vida caught both ends of the doubleheader.
Senior Brooklyn Mills led all hitters on the day, going 5-for-9 with 9 RBI, including a three-run home run to left center field.
“The team did a great job bouncing back after a couple beat-downs early this week,” Whiteford coach Matt VanBrandt said. “We were humbled and ready to get after it tonight.”
