Whiteford first at invite

WEBBERVILLE – The Whiteford boys track and field team won the Webberville Invitational for the third consecutive season Friday.
Brek Ruddy was named field athlete of the meet after taking first in the pole vault, hitting a state qualifying mark of 13-3. He was also part of the winning 4×400 relay.
The Bobcats also took first in the 4×100 and 4×200 relays. Jess Saylor anchored all of the winning relays and won the 400 with a 51.36. Brody Hillard was also on all three relays. Drew Ruddy and Antonio Nachtrab were on the 4×100 and 4×200. Nate Andrews was on the 4×400.
Whiteford’s girls finished second.
Madilyn Thorn was second in the long jump, Braelynn Chiotti was second in the 1600 and Alaina McClain was second in the 800. The 4×100 relay was also second.
“We did have a great day of competition and we saw some great marks, and I’m really proud of how both teams came to compete and push themselves against competition we don’t always see,” Whiteford coach Jay Yockey said.
The Bobcats compete against Morenci Tuesday.
