OTTAWA LAKE – Whiteford’s softball team swept Tecumseh with a pair of one-run thriller’s Thursday afternoon.
The Bobcats beat the Indians 5-4 in eight innings in the first game and 11-10 in the second.
Avy Woods hit a walk-off home run in the eighth inning for the win.
The score was 2-2 through seven innings but Tecumseh took a 4-2 lead into the bottom of the eighth. Whiteford tied the game on a sacrifice bunt by Ava Butz and a single by Brooklyn Mills. Wood hit her first career home run for the win.
Peyton Welch earned the win, going the distance.
In Game 2, the Bobcats won 11-10. Welch came into the game in relief and picked up the win.
Megan Butz blasted a home run in the second game.
Ava Stevens went 5-for-7 with two home runs and a double on the night.
“She was a beast at the plate,” Whiteford coach Matt VanBrandt said.
Whiteford hosts Manchester (9:45 a.m.) and Ann Arbor Father Gabriel Richard (1:45 p.m.) Saturday.
