Whiteford takes second, third at TCC meet

SAND CREEK – Whiteford’s boys finished second in the Tri-County Conference meet Friday at Sand Creek while the Bobcat girls placed third.

The Bobcat boys won three relays and had the 400 champion in Jess Saylor, who was a four-time league champion.

Drew Ruddy, Antonio Nachtrab, Brody Hillard and Saylor were part of the winning 4×100 relay; Nate Andrews, Nachtrab, Hillard and Saylor were on the winning 4×200 relay and the 4×400 relay of Andrews, Brek Ruddy, Keegan Thomas and Saylor also won.

Andrews was third in the 400 and second in long jump. Brek Ruddy was second in the pole vault and 800. Logan Riffle was second in shot and third in discus. 

“The boys had a great day,” Bobcat coach Jay Yockey said. “We came to compete and held our own. We knew Erie Mason was a tough team. They have so much depth, but we still made some good moves and statements in the events that we placed high in.”

Haley Luse and Alaina McClain were league champions in the shot put and 3200. Madilynn Thorn and Koralynn Billau were second and third in the long jump and were part of the 4×100 relay with Makaylah Hopkins and Brielle White in setting a school record.

White was third in the 200 and Braelynn Chiotti was third in the 3200.

The regionals are May 17 at Madison.
