SAND CREEK – Whiteford holds the longest softball win streak in TCC history.
The Bobcats swept Sand Creek Tuesday 16-1, 16-0, to finish the TCC season unbeaten. It was victories No. 57 and 58 straight in league play, eclipsing the 57 straight wins Clinton had that ended in 2013. Whiteford’s streak began at the end of the 2019 season.
Peyton Welch threw a five-inning no-hitter in the opener and a four-inning no-hitter in the second game.
Addeson Cousino went 3-for-5 in the first game and Ava Stevens went 3-for-4 in the second game, including a two-run blast to center field to end the game.
Whiteford has been undefeated for five consecutive TCC seasons.
Whiteford won the final two TCC games of 2019 and have gone 12-0, 12-0, 12-0, 10-0 and 10-0 since.
Clinton’s softball team had a 57-game win streak halted by Whiteford in 2013.
The 58 straight wins is tied for the second longest TCC win streak in any sport. Madison’s girls track team won 107 straight dual meets before that run ended in 2023 by Whiteford. Summerfield’s golf team also went 58-0 over back-to-back seasons in golf.
