Whiteford comeback falls short against LCS

OTTAWA LAKE – Whiteford’s volleyball team kept coming back against Lenawee Christian, but fell just short in the end, dropping the Tri-County Conference opener.

The Cougars won 25-23, 25-20, 16-25, 21-25, 10-15.

LCS won the first two games, then the Bobcats took the next two. In the deciding fifth set, the Bobcats fell behind 4-1 but battled back to tie it 8-8 before a couple of unforced errors gave LCS a 12-8 lead. The Cougars went on to victory.

“It was a hard-fought battle,” Whiteford coach Janie Valdez said. “The good news is we get to play them again.”

Kailee LaVoy and Maylie Mullins both had 8 kills each while Savannah Seevers had 18 digs. Addeson Cousino had 31 assists.
