Chiotti first in TCC Jamboree

SAND CREEK – Braelynn Chiotti finished first Tuesday to help Whiteford place third in the first TCC Jamboree of the season.

Chiotti beat the runner-up from Summerfield by 50 seconds, finishing in 21:28.49. It’s her second consecutive victory as she also finished first at the Al Constable Invite at Sand Creek Saturday.

Molly Fojtik was 12th overall for the Bobcats and Rory Vida was 14th.

Sand Creek finished first, Summerfield second, Whiteford third and Erie Mason fourth in the jamboree.

“We were short a few girls due to injury and being gone helping out with 5th grade camp,” Whiteford coach Jay Yockey said.

The Whiteford boys placed fourth.

Grant Rasor finished sixth for the Bobcats, the highest placing freshman in the meet. His time was 18:53.72.

“We ran well tonight,” Yockey said. “We fell short of a few goals, but we’ll bounce back. Overall, we saw consistency in our racing which is a huge plus.”

Erie Mason took first place in the boys meet, followed by Sand Creek, Summerfield and Whiteford.

The Bobcats are back on the course Saturday when they participate in the New Boston Huron Invite.

“It is a great preview for our regional course,” Yockey said.
