OTTAWA LAKE – The Whiteford girls basketball team picked up its first win of the season Thursday, beating Britton Deerfield 52-19 in a Tri-County Conference game.
Glory Speweik had a big game, sinking four 3-pointers and finishing with a career high 21 points.
“Best game I’ve ever seen from her, by far,” said Whiteford coach Nicholas Kopp.
Macy Ovall added 9 points, as did Avy Wood.
“We’ve been hard at work since the LCS game and we have had some of our best practices lately and it’s finally starting to pay dividends,” Kopp said. “Today was a statement that we are better than our record. And now our girls are starting to believe it.”
