LCS hands Whiteford first loss, 61-60

OTTAWA LAKE – Lenawee Christian All-Stater Jaxon Salenbien made two free throws with 2.4 seconds left to lift the Cougars to a 61-60 win over Whiteford Friday.

It was Whiteford’s first loss of the season.

The Bobcats trailed by more than 20 points at one time, but outscored the visiting Cougars 43-28 in the second half to climb back into the game and take a lead.

Whiteford went up 60-59 with 19.3 seconds left with a pair of free throws by Cole Griffith. 

LCS got the ball inbounds with 8.5 seconds and Salenbien was fouled after picking up a loose ball and made both free throws for a 61-60 lead.

The Bobcats inbounded the ball long and were fouled on the shot, but missed both free throws with 0.7 seconds left.

Griffith led Whiteford with 22 points.
