Mid-game run fuels Bobcats victory over Erie Mason

OTTAWA LAKE – Whiteford trailed 17-14 with seven minutes left in the second quarter but went on a 25-0 run over the next 10 minutes of action, then withstood a late Erie Mason rally to win 60-49.

Erie Mason’s David Sweeney hit a 3-pointer with 6:58 left in the second quarter to give the Eagles the 17-14 advantage before the Bobcats went on their run. Theo Joerin got things started with a triple, Caden Schroyer beat the first half buzzer with a 3-pointer to make it 29-17 going into the break. A 3-pointer by Drew Ruddy and back-to-back buckets by Nate Andrews put the Bobcats in front 39-17 before Mason scored again.

The Eagles the lead to 57-49 before the Bobcats closed out the game with free throws.

Andrews finished with 13 points, Cole Griffith 12 and Joerin 10.

Mason got 15 points from Sweeney and 14 from Logan Doom.

The Bobcats are 15-3 overall and 8-2 in the TCC. The Bobcats can clinch no worse than a share of the league title with wins over Britton Deerfield Tuesday and at Erie Mason (10-9, 6-4 TCC) Thursday.
