BRITTON – Briar Wing’s career-high 16 points led Whiteford to a 58-20 win Friday over Britton Deerfield as the Bobcats near the final games of the season.
The Bobcats (5-13) take on Lenawee Christian tonight.
In last week’s game, Wing led the team in scoring and Avy Wood added 15 points.
Bobcat coach Nick Kopp said Whiteford bounced back after a tough loss to Washtenaw Christian.
“I challenged them following our recent game against Washtenaw Christian to be more aggressive and to come out not being scared to make a mistake,” he said. “Every girl did a great job when they came in.”
He singled out Wing for reaching double digits in scoring for the first time this season.
“She has been through a lot this senior year and she has never wavered and has put in the work and had her best game all year,” he said.
Whiteford has three home games left – vs. league leaders Lenawee Christian (Feb. 17), Morenci (Feb. 20) and Sand Creek (Feb. 24) – before districts begin.
District pairings will be announced Sunday.
