Bobcats reach District final with win over Taylor Prep

ERIE – Whiteford will play for a district championship Friday after beating Taylor Prep 54-41 in Wednesday’s Division 3 district semifinal.

The Bobcats (20-3) led 32-12 at halftime and withstood a 20-point Taylor Prep fourth quarter.

Bobcat coach Jordan Bollin credited the Bobcat bench with a huge role in the win.

“Our bench was as the difference tonight,” he said. “We had really good contributions from Keegan Thomas, Mason Luzier, Brody Hillard and Jess Saylor. With out them we might not have been able to pull it out for tonight. They brought a lot of energy and effort.”

Caden Schroyer had a double-double with 15 points and 15 rebounds. Cole Griffith added 12 points.

The Bobcats will take on defending Division 3 state champion Riverview Gabriel Richard in the finals at 7 Friday night. Gabriel Richard defeated Erie Mason 49-32. The Pioneers are 5-16 this season but have won three of their last five games.
