Four Whiteford Football Players Honored by NFF

TOLEDO – The National Football Foundation Toledo Chapter presented awards to four Whiteford football players Monday at a banquet in which Heisman Trophy winner and former NFL Pro Bowler Eddie George was the featured speaker.

Three Whiteford seniors were named scholar athletes – Mason DeBarr, Jake Scott and Drew Ruddy. A fourth Bobcat senior, Mallory Bahls, was honored for being one of the 2025 weekly Unsung Hero winners.

The NFF held its 64th Annual Scholar Athlete Awards Dinner at the Glass City Center Monday.

The Toledo Chapter of the National Football Foundation was founded in 1962. More than $500,000 in scholarships have been awarded to athletes from Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan since.

Also honored this year was Monroe News sports editor Niles Kruger, who has covered Whiteford sports since 1984, in the media category.
