Bobcat Baseball Team Splits with Bulldogs

PETERSBURG – Whiteford split its season-opening, Tri-County Conference doubleheader Wednesday at Summerfield, dropping the first game 5-4 but coming back to win the nightcap, 4-2.

In game one, Caden Schroyer got the start and went four innings, striking out three and giving up one earned run. Luke Henegar took the loss.

No. 9 hitter Lane Keller had two of Whiteford’s six hits. Brody Masters, Schroyer, Zayne Emch and Jake Scott also had hits. One of Keller’s hits was a double. Schroyer also had a double and stole two bases. Tre Eitniear drew two walks.

Summerfield won the game with two runs in the seventh inning.

In game two, Eitniear and Masters combined to strikeout nine Bulldogs. Sam Miller had the lone Whiteford hit. Eitniear drew two walks and scored twice.

Whiteford is 1-1.
