PETERSBURG – Whiteford bats were booming Wednesday as the Bobcats collected 25 hits in a two-game sweep of Summerfield, 12-2 and 14-1.
Juniors Ava Stevens and Avy Wood had four hits in the doubleheader and sophomore Ava Butz went 3-for-4 in game one.
Sophomore Peyton Welch earned the win in game one, going seven innings, allowing two hits, no earned runs and striking out 11.
Freshman Macy Ovall earned the win in game two, striking out six and scattering three hits.
Whiteford is now 4-1 and faces Blissfield at home Thursday. The game is at 5 p.m.
